July 2012

2nd Annual Durango Cup- Teams consisted of ongoing league members on the newly constructed sports court.  Many old and new faces were part of this event.  Prized were provided by Durango Youth Soccer Association.  This event has been the culmination of lots of hours of hard work and good times.  500 bags of  cement + 25,000+ recycled bottles = Mazapan Sports Court (a place to mentor youth and children via sports)  Local leaders Sabino & Hector & overseer Ron will lead.

Sponsored Kids Party at the Beach– 15+ sponsored students and staff enjoyed a fun day at the beautiful beach in West Bay. It was a nice treat to get away and just enjoy the day together!  These kids and teachers work hard to make a difference.  This group has grown in number and in maturity over the past 2 years.  It is an honor to know these kids and to be a part of their lives.  They are the future leaders of Honduras for sure!

Did you notice the sports court wall has been painted bright yellow?  “Cerveceria Hondureno”- a local Honduran refreshment company provided paint & labor to get the job done.  They, like us, care about building local leaders.  What  a fun day we had painting the wall and being part of the process!

Kerry’s sister Wendy, and “cousins” visit Honduras.  We had 10 days of excitement showing these New Yorkers life on Roatan and life in the colonia.  It was truly amazing to have the opportunity to share all that we’ve been a part of here with family members!  Praise God!  From painting the wall to snorkeling to touring homes in the colonia, it was all good!:)

As we transition back to the states this August, we have high hopes for Care4Communities and the children it reaches.  Tax-deductible donations can now be made via Network For Good, (see Big Green Button), as we progress on our nonprofit status.  We look forward to sharing with you, in person, with all that is changing in Honduras.  YOU are making a positive difference in the lives of many hopeful children.  Many blessings to you!
